Pastor Brent Givens was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana but raised in Longview, Texas. He did not
grow up in a Christian home, but he made a profession of faith early in life. Upon his graduation
from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. While serving in the Navy, he met Pastor
Roger Sebrell in Hampton, VA. Pastor Sebrell challenged him to be in church if he is saved. He
took the challenge and started attending church faithfully. However, it was not till September
2005 that he was convicted about his condition as a lost sinner, received Christ as his Savior,
and was baptized into the membership of Hampton Roads Independent Baptist Church (HRIBC).
In 2006 while deployed to Baghdad Iraq, God called Brent to the gospel ministry. Shortly
afterwards, God began to work in his heart about leaving the military and finishing his Biblical
training at Heartland Baptist Bible College (HBBC) in Oklahoma City, OK. He graduated from
HBBC in May 2010 and received the burden to plant a church in New Orleans, two months prior
to his graduation.
In November 2011 with the support of their pastor, Brent and his wife, Jenny, moved their family to the city of New Orleans to plant the Crescent Baptist Church. They have five children, Micah, Abigail, James, Noah, and Timothy. Together, they are laboring faithfully with the Lord to plant this great church.
